Jane Chen - Co-Founder, CEO
Jane's background includes a blend of business and social sector experience. Jane previously worked with nonprofit organizations on healthcare issues in developing countries. She spent several years as the Program Director of a startup HIV/AIDS nonprofit in China, and worked for the Clinton Foundation’s HIV/AIDS Initiative in Tanzania. She also worked at Monitor Group as a management consultant, advising Fortune 500 companies in Asia Pacific (across fast moving consumer goods, telecommunications and pharmaceutical industries) in strategy development, marketing, and acquisitions. Jane holds an MBA from Stanford University and a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard University. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Pomona College.

Naganand Murty - Co-founder, President of Urban Products
Nag brings a solid blend of engineering skills and life science business experience to the team. Nag has work experience in strategy consulting and venture financing, including marketing, pricing, value messaging, and product positioning strategies for some of the world’s best-selling pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device products. In addition to local cultural understanding, he has a keen interest in developing innovative health technology solutions for the developing world. Nag holds an M.S. in Management Science & Engineering from Stanford University. He received his undergraduate and master's degrees in aerospace engineering from IIT Bombay.

Dr. Rahul Panicker - Co-Founder, President of Rural Products
Rahul brings expertise in engineering and product design. Rahul previously worked at Infinera Corporation, a pioneer in optical telecommunications. During his graduate work at Stanford, his work ranged from particle-accelerator controls to medical imaging to machine learning and adaptive optics. At IIT Madras, he worked with the TeNet group on communication technologies for rural India. Rahul holds an MS and PhD in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, and a B.Tech from IIT Madras, India. He is also an alumnus of the design school at Stanford.

Linus Liang - Co-founder, COO
Linus previously started two other technology companies, the last one resulting in a successful multi-million dollar acquisition. Prior to this, he has worked as a Program Manager at Microsoft. Linus graduated from Stanford with a M.S. in computer science from Stanford University, focusing on Human Computer Interaction. He holds a Bachelor's of Arts in Computer Science from UC Berkeley, where he published numerous papers on information security.

Rajan Patel - Product Engineer
Rajan graduated with a BS in Biomechanical Engineering from Stanford University in 2009. He has coursework and work experience in medical device design. He is very passionate about social change in developing countries, has volunteered in a rural school in India, and taken several courses on South Asia and international development. Rajan looks to combine his skills and passions and work in the field of affordable medical devices for the developing world.

Elyse Marr - Product Designer
Elyse is currently a junior studying Product Design in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Stanford University. This summer 2009 she will continue working with Embrace in human factors and product development, as well as interning at Mehnert Design in Berlin, Germany. Elyse is also a practicing artist and a teacher in the arts. Her most recent work was as artist and designer of a public memorial monument in the historic town of Locke, California.

Eu-wen Ding - Product Design
Eu-wen graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and International Studies from Northwestern University in 2009. During his time there he developed a program exposing engineering students at NU to specific problems faced by people in rural Uganda, giving them an opportunity to use their technical training to come up with potentially innovative solutions. Eu-wen was an Opportunity Collaboration Fellow, an Acumen Fund Student Leader, and a recipient of the Lee F. Anderson Grant at NU. In 2014 Eu-wen will matriculate at Harvard Business School through the 2+2 program.
