A New Partnership in Cameroon

Embrace Global is proud to announce a new partnership with the For Mom and Baby Foundation (FMAB), a Cameroon-based nonprofit dedicated to ensuring that no mother dies from preventable causes. Together, we are working to transform newborn survival in one of the most challenging regions of the world.
In Cameroon, newborn mortality remains alarmingly high, with 28 deaths for every 1,000 live births. A 2018 national survey revealed that one-third of deliveries still take place at home with unskilled attendants, often in unsafe conditions. On top of these challenges, conflict in English-speaking regions has displaced more than 500,000 people—most of them women and children—further limiting their access to safe and reliable medical care.
Partnering for Mothers and Babies
FMAB was founded by Ashu Martha Agbornyenty, a trained midwife and reproductive health expert with decades of frontline experience. Her organization works to train healthcare workers, equip health facilities, and support mothers throughout pregnancy and postpartum care.
“Our mission has always been holistic,” Ashu explains. “It’s about empowering health workers and mothers with the tools and knowledge to keep babies alive.”
One of the greatest threats facing newborns in Cameroon is hypothermia. Small and premature babies are especially vulnerable, yet many facilities lack incubators, and electricity is unreliable due to blackouts and brownouts, particularly in rural areas. This is exactly where the Embrace incubator is designed to make a difference. Portable, durable, and effective without stable power, it provides the warmth fragile infants need to survive.
As Ashu notes, “We are working as partners to the women in these communities. More so, how they can help themselves in situations of crisis like they are experiencing. In order to support these women, we are collaborating with communities and health centers, to help moms and newborns have the best access to care.”
Delivering Warmth Where It’s Needed Most
This month, Embrace and FMAB are deploying 30 Embrace incubators to 10 health facilities that currently lack reliable thermal care for newborns. These incubators will provide life-saving warmth for babies who would otherwise be at risk, while also building the capacity of health workers and communities to care for the smallest and most vulnerable.
This is just the beginning. With every new partnership, Embrace moves closer to our vision: a world where every baby who needs an incubator has access to one.
We are deeply excited to see this collaboration grow and strengthen in the months ahead because every baby deserves the chance to survive and thrive, no matter where they are born.
